Homefin

Privacy policy

How Homefin handles your information, in plain language.

Last updated: 14 September 2026

This policy covers Homefin for iPhone and Mac, its TestFlight beta, and this website. Homefin is provided by Stay Sweet in Sweden. Stay Sweet is responsible for personal information it receives through support and beta testing. Contact: info@staysweet.dev.

Your finances stay with your household. Homefin stores records on your devices and uses Apple’s private and shared iCloud databases for synchronization and collaboration. Financial records are not uploaded to a developer-operated account service. The app has no advertising, third-party analytics or session replay.

1. Information you enter

Homefin stores household and member names, budgets and income, expenses and bills, subscriptions, payment-method labels, savings accounts and goals, transaction history, notes, receipts and other attachments. It also stores preferences and household activity used to show changes and manage collaboration. This information provides the app’s budgeting, tracking, savings and sharing features.

Payment methods and savings balances are records you manage in the app. Homefin does not connect to your bank, initiate payments, or ask for online banking credentials. Avoid putting unnecessary sensitive information in notes or attachments.

2. iCloud and household sharing

Records are available locally, including when you are offline. When iCloud is available, Homefin synchronizes through Apple’s CloudKit service using your Apple Account. Your own household is stored in private iCloud storage; inviting members makes the shared household available to those participants. A joined household uses shared iCloud storage. Personal settings and activity read markers use private storage where synchronized.

Household members can access shared financial records and attachments according to their access. Household activity can identify who made a change. Owners manage invitations, revoke access and delete owned households. Leaving a household does not delete its shared history, which can retain your member name. Revoking access does not remove files someone has already exported.

Stay Sweet has no routine access to the contents of your private or shared iCloud databases. Apple operates iCloud under its own terms and privacy practices; see Apple’s privacy information. Homefin does not sell household data or use it for advertising.

3. Suggestions, device protection and notifications

Smart suggestions use names and details from saved household entries. Suggestions are calculated on the device, and learned history is shared within the household through iCloud. Turning suggestions off is a personal display preference; successful saves can still contribute to household learning. The owner can reset learned suggestions without deleting financial records. No information is sent to an external AI service.

Optional App Lock uses Apple’s device authentication. The app receives an authentication result, never your fingerprint, face data or device password. Anyone authorized to authenticate as the device owner can unlock the app.

Notifications use device permissions and local scheduling; household alerts are prepared after sync. iPhone widgets use a protected local snapshot of summary totals and dates. Control what is visible through the app’s and device’s security and notification settings. Files or photos you choose to attach become part of the household’s records.

4. Backups, exports and deletion

Household owners receive up to three automatic restore points, stored separately from the live database and copied to private iCloud backup storage when available. Portable backups include household records and receipt files; spreadsheet exports are separate. Exported files are under your control, and anyone you share them with may be able to read the contents. Ordinary iCloud or computer device backups may also contain app data, depending on your settings.

Use Settings → Data & Privacy → Erase All My Homefin Data to delete owned households and revoke their collaborators, leave received shares, and remove Homefin’s automatic backups and local data. Deletion of owned households affects their members. Leaving someone else’s household does not erase its owner’s records. Follow any reported errors so the requested deletion can complete.

Exported files, other people’s copies, ordinary device backups and your Apple Account are not deleted by this action. Manage those separately. The developer cannot remotely restore deleted household records. App data remains until you remove it, with rolling retention for automatic backups and bounded suggestion history.

5. Public app notices

Homefin can download informational notices from Apple’s public CloudKit database. These requests do not include household financial records. Notices are cached locally; viewed and dismissed states stay on the device. The app does not track notice opens or clicks for the developer. Apple’s infrastructure necessarily processes technical connection information to provide the service.

6. Diagnostics and TestFlight

Homefin uses Apple’s on-device diagnostic logging for recovery errors and avoids household content, financial values, receipts and credentials. It does not forward these logs to a developer-run logging service. Apple may provide app diagnostics through its distribution services under the applicable settings and terms.

For TestFlight builds, Apple automatically shares crash and usage information with the developer. Email invitations can reveal your name and email; joining only through a public link does not. Feedback can include your comments and screenshots. Stay Sweet uses this information to investigate problems and improve Homefin and does not share TestFlight information with third parties. See TestFlight & Privacy.

7. Support and retention

When you email support, Stay Sweet and the email service handling the correspondence receive your email address and the information you send. Include only what is needed to explain the issue. Remove financial details, household names, receipts and invitation links from messages and screenshots.

Support correspondence and separately retained beta feedback are kept only while needed to respond, resolve the issue or meet a legal obligation, then deleted. Information held in Apple’s services follows Apple’s retention rules. Erasing app data does not delete support emails or TestFlight information; contact us to request access or deletion of information held by Stay Sweet.

8. Your rights

For support and beta information, Stay Sweet relies on its legitimate interests in answering requests and improving Homefin, subject to your rights, and legal obligations where applicable. There is no automated decision-making with legal or similarly significant effects.

Depending on applicable law, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and object to processing. Contact info@staysweet.dev. Manage device and iCloud household records in the app because Stay Sweet has no remote access to them. You can also complain to Sweden’s privacy authority, IMY, or your local supervisory authority.

9. This website and service providers

This website uses GitHub Pages. It has no advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, embedded media or developer-added cookies. An explicit language choice saves only that preference in your browser’s local storage; clear this website’s browser data to remove it. GitHub processes technical visitor information, including IP addresses, to operate and secure its services. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Apple, GitHub and email providers may process service information outside Sweden or the EU/EEA. Their privacy information explains their practices and transfer safeguards. The app does not send household records to GitHub.

10. Changes and contact

We update this policy when Homefin’s handling of information changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Send privacy questions or requests to info@staysweet.dev.
